I’m Allie and I am a new mom
Hi! Welcome to The Middle Momma – a place where I plan to share my own experience with motherhood, mental health struggles, and general life thoughts that I may or may not be qualified to share…
A bit about me:
- My name is Allie. Well, technically I’m Allison, but I haven’t been called that since I was 3
- I am a new mom to Mia Claire as of May 25th, 2023 at 5:41pm
- I’m originally from New York and currently reside in Connecticut
- I dream of opening a coffee shop one day (I love coffee & did not abstain during pregnancy)
- I’ve worked in eCommerce for years but absolutely hate online shopping
- Family is everything to me
- Frank Sinatra puts me in my happy place
- I have a history of a few mental health illnesses, & plan to share more in this blog
- I’m married to a Midwesterner, and his slight accent has rubbed off on me
- Speaking of voices, I can make mine sound like I’ve inhaled helium
You might be wondering why I’ve chosen to call this blog “The Middle Momma”. While I’m brand new to parenting and haven’t figured out my “style”, I plan to approach parenting Mia from the middle point of view. Examples:
- I want Mia to eat all the veggies and whole grains, but she will 100% know what Goldfish and Oreos and McDonalds fries taste like
- I hate the idea of Mia having an iPad at age 2, but will not deprive her of all the crappy childhood TV shows that now exist
- I want Mia to be safe at all times, but I’m aware that she’ll experience the occasional bruise or scrape or God forbid a broken bone, and that’s OK
- I want Mia to be involved in and love some type of sport or activity, but I don’t expect her to be a child prodigy. I’m happy if she’s perfectly average 🙂
- Its great for Mia to have a routine, but know she’s HUMAN and flexibility is key
I don’t plan for “The Middle Momma” to be a place for judgment, but rather a place where I share my honest thoughts on all things that come with parenting, acknowledging that everyone’s experience is unique.
I don’t have much figured out, but I hope to learn and grow with this blog.
Enjoy reading.
XOXO,
Al
